Tiruchendur Murugan Temple is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Murugan and is one of the Arupadai Veedu, the six important pilgrimage sites of the deity in Tamil Nadu. The temple is uniquely located along the seashore, making it one of the few temples in India situated near the ocean.
According to Hindu tradition, Lord Murugan is believed to have defeated the demon Surapadman at this place, and the temple stands as a symbol of victory of good over evil. The temple attracts thousands of devotees throughout the year, especially during major festivals like Skanda Sashti.
